Description
UWSP - College of Natural Resources Aquatic Plants of the Upper Midwest Program & Dinner Rescheduled
presented by Treehaven on Monday Sept 14th
Paul Skaawinski is the author of Aquatic Plants of the Upper Midwest, and teaches aquatic plant biology at UW-Stevens Point. He is also the Statewide Coordinator of Wisconsin's Citizen Lake Monitoring Network, which trains citizens to monitor many aspects of water quality on their lakes. Paul is the Vice President of the Botanical Club of Wisconsin, and holds B.S. and M.S. degrees from UW-Stevens Point.
Paul will discuss the diversity of aquatic plants in Wisconsin, and the many values of the plants to our aquatic ecosystems. How do they affect water quality? How are they utilized by animals and humans? Come learn about these under-appreciated plants and how they impact our lakes and streams.
Treehaven is situated in a unique wilderness setting, as it rests on a glacial ridge overlooking 1,400 acres of forest and wetlands. Treehaven offers many public and school programs, credit courses and professional development, and is also the home to the UW-Stevens Point College of Natural Resources summer field classes for students.
