Mid-State Technical College is proud to announce 109 construction and industrial trade apprentices received a Tools of the Trade scholarship from Ascendium this year. Each apprentice received $2,000 to use toward tools, clothing, equipment, tuition and other needs that help them complete the required education and training for their trade. Poppy Drive 1 May 2026
The American Legion Post 9 will be hosting a Poppy drive on 1 May 2026, prior to Memorial Day this year; out in front of the Pic-n-Save in Wisconsin Rapids. Donations by citizens for the poppies are combined with other American Legion posts through out the state and are passed forward to help with costs in: 1. Maintaining the King Veterans' Home. 2. Purchasing wreaths that are lain on the graves of Veterans located at the Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery. 3. Camp American Legion in Oneida
Return of Honor Flight - 4 May
An Honor Flight will be returning to the Central Wisconsin Airport (CWA) on 4 May 2026. All Veterans and community members are asked to attend if possible. The Honor Flight flys veterans (WWII, Korea, Vietnam) to DC for the day then return back to CWA around 10pm. Cost for the trip is free for Veterans. Their return CWA is a huge public event where the halls are lined to give these Veterans a hearty welcome home. If you can come, please plan to arrive hours in advance, to ensure a parking space.
