Wazeecha Fitness Initiative

Dear Community Partner,
Imagine a sunny summer morning at Lake Wazeecha or a crisp winter afternoon,
and families walking, friends jogging, and neighbors pausing at a fitness station to stretch
and strengthen. Our community treasures this trail, and through the Wazeecha Fitness
Initiative, we want to make it even more inviting, accessible, and fun for everyone.

We are participants in the 2025–2026 ACE Leadership (Advancing Community
Education) Program, and as part of our leadership experience, we were challenged to
create a project with meaningful community impact. Together, we chose to enhance one of
the most valued outdoor spaces in our community, the trails around Lake Wazeecha.

About the Project

Our goal: Bring free, accessible fitness opportunities and improve trail conditions
along the 4.1-mile Lake Wazeecha Walking Trail.

Fitness Stations (for all ages and abilities)
• Warm-Up / Cool-Down Bench
• Vertical Knee Raise Station
• Push-Up / Row Station
• Sit-Up Station
• Plyometric Steps (6”, 12”, 24”, 36”)
• Balance Beam
• Pull-Up / Dip Station
Trail Improvements
• Maintain key trail segments year-round
• Upgrade sections to reduce hazards and improve accessibility
