Mid-State Technical College is partnering with Main Street Marshfield to offer a new series of professional development courses designed to help community members, employees, supervisors, business owners and lifelong learners build valuable workplace and personal skills close to home.
The courses will be held throughout late summer at Downtown Marshfield locations, including The Vault and Simplicity Credit Union. The partnership aims to make professional development more accessible by bringing learning opportunities into comfortable, collaborative community spaces while supporting local businesses.
Participants can choose from a variety of topics relevant to professionals at all stages of their careers, including Canva for personal and professional use, internal customer service, mastering marketing projects and having difficult conversations.
"Professional development doesn't have to happen in a traditional classroom setting," said Sierra Van Rixel, workforce and professional development consultant at Mid-State. "By partnering with Main Street Marshfield, we're creating opportunities for people to build practical skills, connect with others and continue learning in spaces that are welcoming, convenient and rooted in the community."
In addition to expert instruction from Mid-State workforce and continuing education professionals, each session will feature treats from Downtown Marshfield businesses, further highlighting the collaboration between local organizations.
“This partnership is a wonderful opportunity to connect learning with the heart of our community,” said Carter Howe, executive director of Main Street Marshfield. “When people step inside Downtown Marshfield businesses and experience these spaces in a new way, they gain a deeper appreciation for the creativity, expertise and entrepreneurship that make our Business Improvement District thrive. We’re excited to partner with Mid-State to offer professional development opportunities that support lifelong learning, strengthen local businesses and bring new energy to Downtown Marshfield.”
The course series reflects Mid-State's ongoing commitment to workforce development and lifelong learning by providing flexible, relevant training opportunities that help individuals and organizations adapt, grow and succeed.
Registration is required at least 48 business hours before each course. A minimum of 10 participants is required for courses to run, and early registration is encouraged.
