Mid-State Technical College proudly announces the reaffirmation of its accreditation by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) for another decade, effective June 30, 2025. The achievement underscores Mid-State’s commitment to maintaining exceptional educational quality and continuous improvement.
The reaffirmation marks the culmination of an extensive two-year preparation process, involving dedicated efforts from the College’s HLC criterion teams and numerous members of the Mid-State community. Preparations included meticulous evidence gathering, comprehensive reporting through the College’s assurance argument and intensive site visit preparations.
"Receiving reaffirmation of our accreditation from the Higher Learning Commission is a testament to the exceptional quality of education we provide at Mid-State," said Mid-State President Dr. Shelly Mondeik. "This milestone confirms our ongoing commitment to excellence and continuous improvement in serving our students and community."
The accreditation process centered around demonstrating how Mid-State meets the rigorous standards of HLC’s Criteria for Accreditation. On April 28 and 29, 2025, a peer review team comprising five experienced educational professionals visited Mid-State's campus to thoroughly review and verify the College’s accreditation report. Following their assessment, the review team concluded that Mid-State fully meets all criteria for accreditation set forth by HLC, including all federal compliance requirements. This comprehensive affirmation highlights the College’s dedication to excellence in educational practices, institutional effectiveness and student success.
The final report from the review team specifically noted the high quality of education provided at Mid-State. During the student forum, one student shared, "I have confidence in knowing I have some of the best instructors I've had the opportunity to work with." The report further recognized that Mid-State has created a culture deeply rooted in student success, stating, "I-CARE [values] is not merely a motto but is deeply integrated into its institutional identity and mission of transforming lives."
This prestigious accreditation renewal ensures that Mid-State Technical College continues its mission to transform lives through the power of education, maintaining the trust of students, employers and the community for years to come.
