Owen-Withee High School FFA earns Mid-State’s 2025 Regional FFA CDE Chapter of Excellence Award

Mid-State Technical College has awarded its 2025 Regional FFA Career Development Events (CDE) Chapter of Excellence Award to the Owen-Withee High School FFA chapter. The award was conferred at Owen-Withee High School’s annual FFA banquet on April 30, 2025.

The Chapter of Excellence award recognizes exemplary performance in the regional FFA CDE contests held at Mid-State’s Wisconsin Rapids Campus in March. Nearly 1,000 middle and high school students from 43 schools attended the regional competition, making it Mid-State’s largest FFA CDE event to date. The competition covered a range of contests, including forestry, floriculture, dairy cattle and livestock judging, vet science and more. Top ranking teams were invited to participate at the state competition in Madison in April.

Owen-Withee FFA earned ten top-10 individual placements and five top-10 team placements at the regional event. The chapter’s achievements included:

• First place agronomy team with individuals placing 1st, 2nd, 13th and 14th. Owen-Withee student Riley Dieball earned first place in the agronomy contest.
• First place forestry team with individuals placing 3rd, 7th, 9th and 12th.
• First place milk quality and products team with individuals placing 1st, 3rd, 34th, and 58th. Owen-Withee student Sam Stephans earned first place in the milk quality and products contest.

“This award reflects not just participation, but excellence and consistency across a wide range of contests,” said Dr. Alex Lendved, dean of the Marshfield Campus and School of Applied Technology. “We are proud to recognize Owen-Withee’s remarkable performance and the dedication of their student competitors and advisors.”

FFA Career Development Events occur at the local, state and national levels to develop college- and career-readiness skills and serve as an outgrowth of instruction for FFA members in grades 7–12. The events help participating FFA members to develop critical-thinking and effective decision-making skills, foster teamwork and promote communication while recognizing the value of ethical competition and individual achievement.

Mid-State will host another regional event on March 24, 2026. Learn more about the FFA CDEs hosted at Mid-State and the Chapter of Excellence Award at mstc.edu/ffa-cde.
