Heike O'Day just successfully completed a week of training with the Texas School for Professional Photography in Addison, TX. Her instructor, Carl Caylor of Iron Mountain, MI taught four full days of seeing and using naturally available light, using additional lighting sources, choosing locations and backgrounds and camera settings appropriate to the model's outfits and the clients' requests and your own ideas for the final portrait. Though around 800 photographers of all skill levels and from all over the nation as well as some from other countries attended this year's school, class sizes remain around 25. The hands-on nature of Carl's class and the small class-size makes for a great learning experience. Even when you're - like Heike - in your 22nd year in your profession, there's always more to learn. This was Heike's third time attending the Texas Professional Photographers Association's annual school event and it will definitely not be her last time. Heike wishes that more local photographers would come and join her and all the other photography enthusiasts for this absolutely amazing education as well as so many other events that local organizations such as the Wisconsin Professional Photographers Association offer. Reach out to her if you would like to talk about photography.
